Chrysalis = Anggun s maturity and self-finding - This album was dissapointing when i first heard it. It doesnt sound like Snow... and there s just a little ethnic touch (i m an ethnic music lover). But then i like it!!!.This album definetely shows her maturity in making music, proved by she wrote all the lyrics and almost the entire music. I love her definetely, she s always been wonderful. Her voice is heavier here, unlike in Snow, but still, she s great. This album shows a new Anggun. My fave tracks:Breathing -shows my feeling to SteveWant u To Want Me -same like breathingA prayer -very positive and sing-along. This song maybe the greatest religious song ever. It shows nothing but only one God. There s no religion line,we have exactly one supreme God.I love the entire songs!!!
What s Wrong with People? - This woman is just awesome. Everyone I ve played her CD Snow on the Sahara for falls in love with her. I saw her on PBS and she blew me away, even better live. I thought maybe this is a fluke, that Chysalis would show me we were all wrong. But no, she is as wonderful as ever. She has such a smokey, sensual voice and her material and music matches it perfectly. I could listen to her forever. The world should know about her, don t know why they don t play her on the radio or VH1 either. WAKE UP AMERICA - DISCOVER ANGGUN!!
If you don t own this album you are missing out! - WHen i first heard of Anggun I got her first album snow of the Sahara which i thought was a great album...then cam this album! All the songs on this album are wonderful and you can t go wrong with her voice! This is a must buy for any fan of great music! Go get it!
sober - Anggun....not only beatiful but extremely motivating. Still reminds Me is a song i hold very dear to me. she sings from the heart, and seems to know what people are going through. when i first heard her album i couldn t believe how much it touched me, especially when i was going through a difficult period of my life.i believe her music should be played more on the radio and MTV. Anggun, you are fabulous..please come sing in sri lanka...you will truly be loved!!
Anggun s sophomore effort, better and better - They say things get better with age and evidently, Canada s Anggun (originally from Indonesia, works in France, but lives in Canada when not working) knows the score. Anggun has a style all her own. To truly appreciate her (for those of you in the US who aren t familiar with her work on her first full-length CD, Snow On The Sahara ), you d have to combine Basia, Norah Jones, and Sarah McLachlan and this combination still comes short. Both full-length albums exist in French and the English imports have up to 5 bonus tracks. I found out about Anggun, by accident, in a San Francisco club. I ve been hooked ever since. Listening to her sophomore effort, I know why. Beauty, Sincerity, and personal lyrics are just the beginning, and here s to the beginning.Still Reminds Me has a mild hip-hop beat (should have been a big US Radio hit, but was not pushed by Sony, anyway, it s great for driving with the top down or working out) with sultry vocals (you may heard this in the club scene with Jason Nevins remixes). Rain is sensual and rhythmic with lyrics rain...tears of ecstasy and rain..come down on me , this song just rains intimacy. Breathing is a deep, heart-felt ballad about having deep feelings for someone but unable to be close to them, with lyrics cause I m breathing far away from you and every second feels like thousands more without you , just breathing to be alive to be with you (I m sure we all have someone we feel like this toward someone).Chrysalis, already in radio friendly format, has been played in a few clubs using the Hex Hector mixes. A song about freedom and awareness of oneself and one s many personality traits, a self-esteem booster.Tears of Sorrow, the 5th track, a song about human nature, ego, conflicts that mankind faces (money, power, ego, search for truth, etc). Could be easily remixed for the clubs (big hint here).Want you to want me, yet another heartfelt ballad, talks about one s love for another and the request to be noticed by the first, the piano and Anggun, neither should be without the other. How the world, the 7th track, is yet another social consciousness song regarding how mankind has progressed this far, as evident in the lyric, Oh i... don t know how the world keeps turning Easily remixed, A Prayer could be a club classic. A positive song, recognizing that special person/force that watches us all. An acknowledgement and thank you.Non-angelical, bordering on cynical, Anggun lays down the law about the new girl you ve taken up with. Again, easily remixed for the clubs.Look Into Yourself, another positive self-esteem booster, the answer lies in ourselves if we just look. Again, easily remixed for the clubs.Forbidden Love, her obsession with an unhealthly love but nearly unable to move on, edge of hip-hop beats, and an easy remix makes a club hit.Signs of Destiny, the 12th track, is about meeting that special someone that we somehow feel is the one for us, our destiny. Again, easily remixed for the clubs.Comme un privilege (the chorus en francais, the verse en anglais), is a very sultry, soft-spoken, beat driven ballad about her strong feelings enforced by that special someone. The last track is the most personal, A Broken Dream, the fall of a significant relationship, Anggun s vocals sear deep into your heart as you feel her pain through out the song.Whether it s being in love, falling out of love, or being fooled in love, Anggun knows the score. Her voice flows flawlessly throughout the CD. Highly recommended. Also, check out Snow On The Sahara , and Open Hearts, OST .Anggun, please come to Texas (Dallas, Houston, or Austin).
